September 20th, 2006 International Affairs Commissioner’s Report Good Evening Everyone, This past week proved to be a catalyst to getting the Worker’s Rights Organization and The Baker Catering Policy going as well. I had a meeting with Dr. Kent Smith on Friday, to discuss these issues and I believe we’ve reached the point where we have our chess pieces in place; we’re just waiting for the checkmate. Dr. Smith as well as I believe whole heartedly that the Worker’s Rights Organization is a great organization and could provide many benefits to the university. Dr. Smith has a meeting with President McDavis this week; I’m looking forward to what President McDavis had to say about the organization and how he feels about Ohio University joining the Worker’s Rights Organization. I would just like to say thank you to Dr. Smith for his help and guidance within this issue. The I.S.U. Retreat was this past Sunday, and it proved to be really beneficial for all the international groups on campus. It was started last year and its purpose was to bring all the presidents and treasures of the international groups up to date on how to properly handle their various tasks for their groups throughout the year. We had a great turnout and I was able to answer many questions in regards to the Health Insurance Policy as well as Baker Catering. It was a great opportunity for me to really get to know this year’s international groups and their members, as well as inform them about student senate as well. Have a great rest of the week. -End of Report-
