Commissioner’s Report for 09/20/06:
In accordance with a resolution that was past a few years ago Senate is endorsing the march and name burning for Sexual Assault Awareness Week on Tues., Sep. 26 at 7 pm at the West Portico on College Green.
Also, I’ve been talking with Kaleena Schmitt about collaborating with POWER this year on some other women’s health issues and events.
Commissioner Heery and I have discussed retention rates and have a meeting on Monday morning with Wendy Merb-Brown who coordinates the Learning Communities on Campus. The purpose of the meeting will be to discuss a possible learning community for women in intellectual and leadership roles.
My commission is looking into working with groups on campus who are supporting a minimum wage increase, which is extremely relevant to women who are among the highest recipients of minimum wage.
We are discussing theme and who wants to co-sponsor or get involved with TBTN. As part of this planning we are working toward another OU Women Leaders Working Together forum for this quarter or next.
