I had a meeting with Vice President Smith. We discussed the second special committee, which will be on university heritage. This committee will be looking at old yearbook stuff and other creeds and history of Ohio University. If anyone is interested in serving on one of the special committees please let Paul or I know. This week I also had a meeting with our IT gurus. We are going to start ordering computers for the senate office once we get our P-card. The computers have to be tested first with the university before we get them, so in a couple weeks the senate office should have some new computers. I had a meeting with the graduate student senate, specifically meeting with Dom Barbato. He’s a great resource for all of you, because he knows a lot about senate. Molly, Paul, and I had an interview with the New York Times about the university and its recent issues. It seemed like a really positive meeting and we all came away feeling very good, but there will be a story about Ohio University in The New York Times coming up. The Faculty Senate meeting is something that Commissioner Heery will talk about later. The council of student leaders meeting was interesting, many of you might have gotten the joint email from myself and President McDavis. I’m pleased with the way that turned out. The East Neighborhood meeting shows the impact students can have on a community and the impact of the relationship between the local police and students. The Dining with Cops organization that is being headed up will work to further facilitate a positive relationship between students and police. Also, some issues that are concerning the police as of now are drug enforcement, graffiti, and race penalties. They are encouraging students to know that we are part of a community. The retreat of the presidents is on Friday, and here is the agenda of the topics we submitted; please talk to me if you have any questions about this. As you may know, there is a picture of the OU bobcat on the homepage. There will be a photo of student senate on the homepage with the bobcat so we need to find a date that works for everyone to take a photo for this. Look at OU with a critical eye and just because we do things the same in senate as we may have done for years, if you see something we can do better please say something. Be critical and talk to the commissioners about your ideas. End of report.
