Hi everyone, I hope you had a fabulous week!
We’re getting a lot of support for Take Back the Night, both from members of the community and student organizations. I’ve been able to secure several sponsors, and a planning meeting is going to be held some time in the next few weeks.
Back on the Bricks for Year of the Women: We’ve been invited to join Women's groups and individual women are making plans to march in the Ohio University Homecoming Parade with the purpose of "Honoring our Foremothers who Hit the Bricks;” My commission has been invited to represent TBTN.
I’ve also joined Commissioner Roder in the YOTW efforts and will be attending meetings and helping with the planning of that.
Commissioner Diehl and I discussed a lighting walk for fall quarter. I have a meeting with Elaine Kaylor tomorrow to discuss what was accomplished last year; look for the opportunity take part in this within the next few weeks!
The new Women’s Center is continuing to be one of my commission’s biggest projects. With Judith Grant and Charlene Smith as well as several women’s organizations on campus, we are busy coordinating the opening events for the center. I will be attending several meetings during this quarter to finalize these plans.
My commission has been invited to attend a luncheon and meeting in November to discuss High-Achieving Women with faculty who are addressing this issue. Several student organizations have also offered their assistance in researching this matter.
I am still working closely with the minority affairs, lgbt, and black affairs commissioners pertaining to the affirmative action policy.
End of report!
