On Thursday President Allen, Treasurer Mckenney and I met with Student Trustees, Micah Mitchell and Lydia Gerthoffer to discuss senate initiatives and the agenda for the Board meetings this week. I also began my initial research looking into policy regarding Boards of Trustees at state funded schools. After looking through nearly every page of the Ohio Revised Code there was essentially nothing to be found. I contacted the Ohio Governor’s office to find out more and was informed that there is no explicit policy for the governor’s appointments of trustee members. The only documentation is the actual legislation that mandates state funded schools to have Boards. I’m still waiting for further confirmation of this information. On Friday, Chief of Staff Garguilo, President Allen and I met with Post editors to see where we can improve our relay of information to the press. It was a great discussion and we are anticipating great things to come of it. President Allen and I also met with Associate Provost Mike Williford and discussed different avenues that Student Senate may pursue research and also to inquire about research that has been done in certain areas of interest including, retention and budget. As a cap to a great Friday, I was fortunate enough to attend was ISU dinner. The food was amazing! On Sunday, I attended the retreat. I want to thank everyone who attended and made it a great success. I also had my bi-weekly commissioner meeting, short and sweet. And finally was the flag football game. On Monday, I attended lunch with Dr. Smith. Later on in the day I had the opportunity to meet with applicants for the Senator at large position. So be looking for that resolution, hopefully, next week. The Student Senate Special Committee on Academic Honesty had its first meeting. Finally on Monday, President Allen, Treasurer McKenney and I met with Chiefs of Staff. Amongst other things, we discussed the upcoming Senate Awareness Week. We have tentatively decided on the second week of winter quarter for the event. Upcoming stuff… the Board of Trustees is in town on Thursday and Friday (meetings are open to the public). On Friday, Commissioner Heery, President Allen and I will be meeting with representatives from EPSA to talk about aligning Student Senate and Faculty Senate and to see where we can have better lines of communication. That’s it! END OF REPORT!
