City & County Affairs CommissionAmanda Estok18 October 2006 On Monday I had the opportunity to work with the Off Campus Life Commission on their campaign to distribute recycling bins and Halloween safety information to residents who live off campus.  I felt that our efforts were well received and many students appreciated the literature we provided for them on the rights they can exercise on Halloween weekend. Whether it is good news or bad news, the city has voted against the adoption of the ownership of Strouds Run.  The decision was made four to three.  On a lighter note, this decision ensures that we will not face any ‘service’ or ‘usage’ charges that the city may impose to generate revenue.  However, I hope that the quality and well being of the park does not suffer because of this choice. I have spoken to both Councilmen Amy Flowers and Carol Patterson and they are both willing to meet with me to discuss the proposal of a City Business Fair.  I have yet to hear back from the Chamber of Commerce, but I am still optimistic that we can start planning by the end of this quarter. End of report.
