Residence Life Commission Report

Good evening everyone.  Res. Life is beginning to wind down for the quarter.  Senator Nobel attended Cady, Foster, Brough Hall Council again this week and also researched the smoking policy and Issue III.  Senator Smith created the flier for the transfer student program which will be included in the CONNECT OHIO booklet.  Senator Golby got a response back from Christine Sheets about laundry and was looking into the Smoke Free Ohio Issues.  Senator Pollard graced us with his presence last night for the first time all quarter.  He’s been a busy boy, as he’s prepared biographies to be hung up in the East Green Res. Halls.  He’s also looking into the toilet seat cover issue raised by the student trustees at the last meeting.  Senator Finical cleared up the misunderstanding with the Boyd RA’s regarding the Halloween info sessions.  They look forward to working with us in the future.  Senator Kostiha has been researching potential speakers for the Kennedy Lecture Series.  She’s also going to look into the toilet paper issues that are arising in Bromley with the opening of the new residence hall.

The interns are also keeping busy this week.  Catie is helping Sen. Pollard with the toilet seat project, Jen is researching smoking policies at 3 MAC and 3 peer institutions, and Joni is helping Sarah research the higher cost of living in Bromley.

The Substance Free Task Force has completed a draft of the Substance Free Contract.  I have copies with me if any of you are interested and once it is finalized, I plan on proposing a resolution supporting it.

Commissioner Walker, Sen. Schuttee, and I will be getting together again hopefully within the next week to go over our findings on disability room selection.  Also, Commissioner Robbins and I hope to be putting a lighting walk together before the end of the quarter.

Finally, Commissioner Redd has a resolution up this evening about Issue III which I hope you’ve all read, researched and are ready to discuss.
