Women’s Affairs Commissioner’s Report: 11/01/06
This week was busy with discussion about Sexual Health Seminars in Hudson. I have been working with Brittany Buxton and Kristen Delo of GSS on this, and after the last GSS meeting a committee has been formed to discuss this issue and hopefully will reach some conclusions when we meet. I’ll also be attending the next GSS meeting about it.
Women’s planning for the Herstory Celebration began this week. My commission will be assisting with this and helping out.
We’re also in contact with UPC about performance artists for Take Back the Night. Elaine Kaylor and I are meeting to discuss a fundraiser for my Sister’s Place, other plans for the week include an art show, self defense workshops, and more. We’re going to be having a weekly planning meeting starting winter quarter – so if anyone wants to be on the steering committee we’d love to have you. As stated last week, we will be implementing the Shower Hangers Elaine got approved last year. It looks as though this will be taken care of before the end of the quarter or at least in early winter quarter. Judy Piercy of has informed us that all we need do is distribute them to the directors who will take care of putting them in place.
Judith Grant is going to be contacting me by the end of the week for our end of the quarter meeting about the new Women’s Center. Our planning in this has gone really well, and we’ve made a lot of great contacts with other women’s organizations across campus. I look forward to finishing this up next quarter.
I will be assisting Senator Allen in her work on a Greek Life directory, which I’m sure she will report more on later.
Also, invitations are currently being composed and sent for the forum on diversity and retention.
End of Report!
