11-8-06 International Affairs Commissioner’s Report Adam Fardy Good evening everyone, This past Friday, I had my first University International Council meeting. In the meeting we discussed the draft of proposed changes towards the re-formation of the University International Council by Dr. Rota. We also went over 2 new study abroad programs both in Honduras and Poland, which passed unanimously. Lastly, we discussed agreements between Ohio University, Malaysia, and China. These agreements also passed unanimously. I also was able to learn the university’s international student enrollment this year, which became extremely helpful in preparing for the Retention and Diversity Forum in January. Also, I have been working on my letters to invite various international groups to the Retention and Diversity Forum in January. At the I.S.U general body meeting, I handed out those letters to the international graduate students. I will be working with these students in contacting several different ethnic undergraduate students on campus. Also, my interns Sarah and Alex attended the meeting on Monday and I was able to get to know both of them a little better. I look forward to working more with them during Winter Quarter. Lastly, I contacted the several groups that were assigned to me for liaison work. I have already heard back from 4 of the groups, so were off to a great start. I look forward to hearing back from more of the groups and attending their meetings starting Winter Quarter. Hope everyone has a great break, and a Happy New Year! End of Report.
