Commissioner’s Report

International Affairs

Adam Fardy

Good Evening,

This week I’ve been working to find an individual to take my place at this Thursday’s Retention and Diversity Forum, since I will be out of town.  My intern Alex Nickley will be taking my place in leading discussions with not only the International participants but also leading other group discussions.  Alex as well as I, are very excited as this is Alex’s first major assignment while being an intern, I believe he will do a great job.

I’ve also been working on my liaison work, and thus far have received two responses.  I’ll be attending those meetings soon, as well as contacting the other organizations on my list.

This past week, I met with the Retention and Diversity Forum members, to decide on the questions that would be asked at the forum.  I believe the questions that we decided on were great and they should yield interesting results by the end of the forum.  Also this week, I sent an e-mail to Dr. Smith in regards to a possible meeting between Christine Sheets, Dr. Smith, I.S.U, and myself in accordance to the new Baker Catering policy.  I hope for the possibility of a meeting soon, so that I.S.U as well as I can have our questions answered and concerns addressed about the new policy.

On Monday night we had our first I.S.U G.B. meeting in the new Baker Centre, which had a great turnout, for the start of the Winter Quarter.  We discussed some upcoming events which are as follows.

  1. The Fulbright Scholars Association will be hosting a film festival in the Friends of the Library Room on January 17th and 19th.
  2.  On both days, the films will be shown from 6-8 p.m.
  3. A.S.U will also be hosting a film series on January 20th-22nd
  4. in Bentley Hall starting each day at 8 p.m.

Have a good rest of the week.
