International Affairs Commission

Adam Fardy

Good Evening Everyone,

This week I have been further contacting liaison groups in order to attend those meetings very soon.  I also will be having my interns hopefully working with Commissioner Estok with the Business Fair she is preparing and planning.

I have been in touch with Dr. Smith this week in regards to three topics of discussion.  I have talked with him about further updates upon the Worker’s Rights Consortium, and what the President’s cabinet had to say about it.  I also have been talking with him to get our meeting on the new Baker Catering policy underway.  I hope to shed light on some areas that are troublesome for the international groups on campus and hopefully by the end of the meeting, everyone will be in accordance with one another.  I did talk with the faculty advisor for I.S.U, Krista McCallum Beatty, and she did state to me that many of the international groups thus far who have had an event in the new Baker Center, have had their problems addressed and have been helped along in accordance to their needs.

Lastly I have further been talking with Dr. Smith in regards to a meeting to discuss welcoming procedures for the international community, here on campus.  From there, I will hopefully know who I should talk to, to help fix some areas for next year’s orientation.

Some upcoming international events are as follows:

-         The presentation ‘Three Doctors’ will be on 1-25-07 @ 7:30 p.m. in the Memorial Auditorium.

-         Also I.S.A. will be hosting Republic Day on 1-26-07 from 6-9 p.m., the event will begin at Cutler Hall and end at Morton Hall.

Have a good rest of the week.
